Letting Go of Control

Devotional Reading

Estimated Time: 3–4 minutes

Trying to manage everything—health, caregiving, decisions, emotions—can feel like spinning plates. And when one drops, the guilt or fear can creep in fast. But control is an illusion. Peace comes not from having everything in your hands, but from placing everything in God’s.

Proverbs 3:5–6 says:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means handing over the weight you were never meant to carry alone. Surrender is sacred. And it brings freedom.

Reflection Prompt

What are you holding too tightly today? What would it look like to release it to God?

Guided Prayer: When You Need to Surrender

Estimated Time: 2 minutes

God, I’ve been trying to control things that are outside my reach—and I’m exhausted.

Help me loosen my grip. Teach me how to trust You with the people I love, the outcomes I fear, and the details I can’t manage.

You’re wiser than I am. Kinder. Stronger. And You care more than I ever could. I release what’s not mine to hold. Amen.
