Gratitude in Difficult Seasons

Devotional Reading

Estimated Time: 3–4 minutes

It’s hard to be thankful when you’re in pain, stressed, or grieving. Gratitude can feel like a luxury you can’t afford. But Scripture reminds us that giving thanks isn’t about ignoring hardship—it’s about seeing God in the middle of it.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Gratitude doesn’t change your circumstances—it changes you. It shifts your focus. It opens your heart. And it brings light into dark places.

Reflection Prompt

What’s one small thing you can thank God for today, even in the middle of the hard?

Guided Prayer: For a Thankful Heart

Estimated Time: 2 minutes

God, some days it’s hard to be thankful. My pain feels bigger than my praise.

But today, I choose to say thank You—not because everything is good, but because You are. Help me see Your kindness, Your presence, Your mercy in the little things.

Grow in me a heart of gratitude, even here. Amen.
